Identity Certificates
Documents can be issued only if the birth, marriage or death occurred
in Manitoba. Certificates contain information extracted from the original
registration filed at our office.
Birth certificates are issued
in the applicant's birth name, unless a legal change of name has occurred.
Birth:
Available in one size, approximately 5 in. wide by 7 in. high (12.5 x 17.6 cm).
With parents’ names |
contains name, date and place of birth, sex, parents' names, registration date and registration number |
Without parents’ names |
contains name, date and place of birth, sex, registration date and registration number |
As of December 1, 2011, Passport Canada requires that applications for children have a document that details the
child-parent(s) relationship. For a child born in Manitoba, this is a birth certificate with parents’ names.

Marriage:
Available in one
size only
8˝ x 7 in. (21.6 x 17.8 cm), and contains the names and birthplaces of parties to the marriage, date and place of marriage, sex,
registration date and registration number.
Death:
Available in one
size only
8˝ x 7 in. (21.6 x 17.8 cm) and contains the name of the deceased, date and
place of death, age, sex, registration date and registration number.
Registration Photocopy:
A certified photocopy of the original registration of the event. It contains all
the information that appears on the registration with the exception of the Registration
of Death, which does not show the cause of death.
